Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects. While numismatists are often characterized as students or collectors of coins, the discipline also includes the broader study of money and other payment media used to resolve debts and the exchange of goods.
Chartered by congress, this is America’s largest museum dedicated to numismatics brings culture of currency to life. The collection of US coins, currency, tokens and medals exceeds that held by the Smithsonian. The museum explores art, history, science and much more to promote the diverse nature of money and related items.
The coin collection enthusiast will appreciate the rare coins on display but there is something for everyone. It gives the visitor the opportunity see all denominations of US bills including $500, $1000, $5000, $10,000 and $100,000.
